Victor Fire responded to a lightning strike on West Main St during a period of heavy thunderstorms on 8/9/09. Upon investigation at the scene it was determined that the chimney has suffered a direct hit by lightning and was partially destroyed. Firefighters secured the area to protect bystanders from falling debris and checked the structure for extensions. A local contractor was called to stabilize the remaining part of the chimney until permanent repairs could be made. Victor was assisted at the scene by Farmington FD.
