The Victor Fire Department has received word from the office of Senator Schumer that it will be awarded a 2009 FEMA Assistance to Firefighter's Grant. The amount of the grant is $27,717.00. This grant will be used to assist the fire department in purchasing 15 set of turnout gear and boots. The message from FEMA/DHS is as follows:

Dear Mr. Murphy:
On behalf of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), I am pleased to inform you that your grant application submitted under the FY 2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grant has been approved. FEMA's Grant Programs Directorate (GPD), in consultation with the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), carries out the Federal responsibilities of administering your grant. The approved project costs total to $29,175.00. The Federal share is 95 percent or $27,717.00 of the approved amount and your share of the costs is 5 percent or $1,458.00.
